Qurum Beach’s light brown-gray sand and crystal-clear waters stretch for four kilometers on the Oman coast overlooking the Gulf of Oman in the Arabian Sea. Oman is located on the southeast corner of the Arabian plate and is generally tectonically quiet. The Central Hajar Mountains run through the northern coastline of the city. Coral reefs and 21 species of whales and dolphins and several marine turtles can be found along the 3165 km Oman coastline.
Aside from occasional clear and reflective quartz sand grains and some small black grains, some of which may be volcanic, the majority of the sand grains are smooth white and tan shell fragments. A round white foram is located in the center of the image.
